New toll product for Hertz rental vehicles
For your convenience Hertz has introduced a toll payment option, enabling their customers renting in Victoria and NSW to combine toll charges with daily car rental charges. Hertz customers must opt in to this option when collecting their Hertz rental vehicle to take advantage of the Hertz Toll Product.
If you choose this option when collecting your Hertz rental vehicle, you can register your details for automatic payment of tolls on EastLink and CityLink as well as tollways in Sydney. This enables you to travel on EastLink without having to arrange a tag or pass before renting your vehicle.
If you do NOT choose this option when collecting your Hertz rental vehicle, then you need to make your own arrangements for payment of tolls. In this case we recommend that you buy an EastLink trip pass for each one way trip on EastLink.

How does the Hertz Toll Product work?
Hertz Australia has introduced a toll pre-payment option, enabling customers renting in the States of Victoria and New South Wales to combine tollway fees with daily car rental charges. The new system has been launched by Hertz in partnership with NSW tollway operator Transurban / Roam Express. Transurban / Roam Express has a relationship with EastLink to allow EastLink to charge EastLink tolls to Transurban / Roam Express's account customers.
The new Hertz Toll Product enables you to pre-register your details for automatic payment of tolls, on any of Sydney’s eight tollways, in addition to CityLink and EastLink in Victoria. Once you travel on one of these tollways, the Hertz Toll Product will be activated and a one-off start up fee of $4.95 per rental agreement will be applied, after which the applicable toll charge plus relevant image processing fee will be charged at each toll gate or tolling point. If there is no travel on a tollway, you will not be charged a fee. Once activated, the Hertz Toll Product is valid for the term of your Hertz rental agreement.
Hertz customers who pay for their vehicle hire with a credit card will be asked at the Hertz counter at the commencement of each rental whether they would like to purchase the Hertz Toll Product. If they do, they will be required to sign the Terms and Conditions allowing Hertz to provide their credit card details to Transurban / Roam Express, who will manage the toll charging.
Hertz #1 Club Gold members who pay for their vehicle hire with a credit card will be asked at the rental counter if they would like to purchase the Toll Product. If they accept, they will be required to sign the Terms and Conditions allowing Hertz to provide their credit card details to Transurban / Roam Express, who will manage the toll charging. For all subsequent rentals, the Hertz #1 Club Gold member will automatically be set up to accept the Toll Product. Hertz #1 Club Gold members can subsequently opt-out at any time by contacting Hertz.

IMPORTANT
When driving a Hertz rental vehicle which you have asked Hertz to register for automatic payment of tolls you should not use any other tag or tolling product of any other toll provider. This means you should not buy an EastLink trip pass, otherwise you would incur an unnecessary cost (as EastLink trip passes are not refundable).
When driving a Hertz rental vehicle which you have NOT asked Hertz to register for automatic payment of tolls or for any other reason has not been registered by Hertz for automatic payment of tolls we recommend that you buy an EastLink trip pass for each one way trip on EastLink.
