EastLink consistently saves time
EastLink consistently reduces travel times for motorists when compared to both Springvale Road and Stud Road, which are the main alternative roads running parallel to the new motorway.
Over a 7 week period, IMIS (www.imis.com.au
) conducted travel time surveys along the full length of EastLink, Springvale Road and Stud Road. These surveys were commissioned by ConnectEast, and show:
For trips at 7:30am, EastLink saved an average 26 minutes (see Figure 1 below)
For trips at 6:00pm, EastLink saved an average 23 minutes (see Figure 2 below)
The travel time when using EastLink is much more consistent and reliable (see Figures 1 & 2)
The travel time savings experienced when EastLink was toll free have continued after tolling commenced on 27 July 2008.
