EastLink saves petrol as well as time
If you use EastLink instead of Stud Road, each trip on EastLink could save you up to $2.20 in petrol as well as up to half an hour in time.
Using a modern, petrol-engined family car built in Australia, IMIS (www.imis.com.au) conducted a travel time and fuel consumption survey. The survey involved trips on EastLink and Stud Road on weekdays at 7:30am and 6pm. The survey was commissioned by ConnectEast.
The survey showed that EastLink was consistently quicker than Stud Road by an average of 28.7 minutes for trips starting at 7:30am, and an average of 30.2 minutes for trips starting at 6pm.
Assuming unleaded petrol costs $1.52 per litre (which was the average unleaded petrol price when the survey was conducted), trips starting at 7:30am benefited from the higher fuel saving, with EastLink saving on average $2.21 in petrol compared to Stud Road. For trips starting at 6pm, EastLink saved on average $1.68 in petrol compared to Stud Road.
