Air quality monitoring
Air quality monitoring on EastLink is conducted to help ensure the quality of air:
Note: For the first three years of EastLink operations up to and including the 2nd quarter 2011, ambient air quality monitoring was also conducted to demonstrate that EastLink was not negatively impacting the local air environment. EPA Victoria granted approval to discontinue the monitoring of ambient air quality.
ConnectEast operates the Melba and Mullum Mullum tunnels in accordance with a licence issued by Environment Protection Authority Victoria (EPA). This operating licence includes air quality limits that must not be exceeded for in-tunnel air quality and for emissions from the ventilation stacks.
A glossary is provided for technical terms mentioned in the Environmental Reports section.
