Tolls

EastLink has the cheapest tolls in Australia.

When travelling with a tag, each toll is deducted from your account.

When travelling without a tag, each toll plus one image processing fee for each trip is deducted from your account. The image processing fee is waived for motorcycles, as tags are not issued for motorcycles to ensure rider safety and security.

One EastLink trip pass pays for a single trip on EastLink in one direction only. A return trip requires two trip passes.

An EastLink trip pass is charged at a fixed price irrespective of the locations where you entered and exited EastLink.

There is a different trip pass price for each vehicle tolling class.

As you travel along EastLink in one continuous trip, the total toll for the trip is calculated by adding up the toll for each tolling gantry passed.

The total toll for the trip is capped at the toll cap. This means that once the toll cap is reached, if you continue your journey on EastLink any additional toll zones are free.

The toll cap does not apply to EastLink trip passes.

On Saturdays, Sundays and Victorian Public Holidays, EastLink car tolls are automatically discounted by 20%.

This includes the car toll cap, which is also discounted by 20% on these days.

The weekend discount for cars does not apply to EastLink trip passes or other vehicles classes.

Monday to Friday (excluding Victorian Public Holidays), EastLink car tolls for short trips limited to a single tolling section are automatically discounted by 20%.

The single section discount for cars does not apply to trips through the EastLink tunnels.

The single section discount for cars does not apply to EastLink trip passes or other vehicles classes.

An EastLink 'trip' is defined as travel on EastLink in one direction only. You may leave and re-join EastLink in the same trip, provided you keep going in the same direction, don't repeat any section, and complete your trip within 60 minutes. A return journey constitutes two EastLink trips.

When calculating the toll for an EastLink trip we take into consideration stops at the BP service stations located on EastLink. We understand that a stop for fuel, food and a short rest might mean that the trip on EastLink might exceed the usual 60 minutes maximum by an hour or two.

A single trip on EastLink may pass through several toll sections.

EastLink's tolling system adds up the GST-exclusive toll for each section of EastLink, and then applies GST to the total.

This could be one or two cents higher or lower compared to adding up the GST-inclusive toll that is published for each individual section.
