Victorian bushfire emergency assistance

EastLink is a critical part of Melbourne’s transport network.

The emergency services use EastLink (toll free) many times every day of the year as they go about their vital work.

During this Victorian bushfire emergency, it’s therefore essential that our primary focus continues to be on ensuring that EastLink operates safely and reliably for the emergency services as well as our customers.

EastLink has 480 hectares of landscaping, which has been affected by this summer's unusually dry conditions. So it’s also important for our 24/7 control room and incident response teams to be vigilant and ready to respond to landscaping fires. We must ensure that landscaping fire incidents are brought under control as quickly as possible, with minimal impact on traffic flow and without affecting neighbouring parkland and properties.

We also recognise that some customers may have been directly affected by this Victorian bushfire emergency, and may need some additional assistance in matters relating to EastLink.

If you have been directly affected by the Victorian bushfire emergency and are seeking additional assistance from EastLink, please phone our Ringwood customer services team on (03) 9955 1400 during business hours Monday to Friday (closed public holidays).

Longer term, we know that it's important to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, to minimise the severity of future bushfire emergencies. Through projects aimed at reducing our energy usage, EastLink reduced our GHG emissions by 36% during FY2019 compared to the previous year. In fact, EastLink's GHG emissions have decreased by 54% since the baseline reporting year (FY2011). Read more in our Sustainability Report.
