EastLink sponsors Frankston BMX Club Summer Championship

Thursday 10 February 2022

The Frankston BMX Club Summer Championship will be held at the Club’s BMX track in Seaford, on eight Friday evenings from 11 February until 27 May.

With Victoria returning to a sense of normality following the COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns of 2020 and 2021, EastLink’s sponsorship is helping Frankston BMX Club reconnect with BMX riders and families, volunteers and officials.

Children and young adults were particularly impacted during the stop-start lockdowns of 2020 and 2021. With sporting facilities closed for extended periods of time, training sessions were unable to proceed, and competitions cancelled completely.

EastLink’s sponsorship funding is helping Frankston BMX Club to deliver its first complete championship season since early 2020.

The Summer Championship will include BMX riders competing from clubs around metro Melbourne and country Victoria.

In addition to the sponsorship funding, EastLink will provide marketing support to Frankston BMX Club, including emails to EastLink account holders about the Club and the Summer Championship.

EastLink corporate affairs manager Doug Spencer-Roy said, “Frankston BMX Club’s track is located between EastLink and Old Wells Road, Seaford, which makes the Club a close neighbour of EastLink."

"We are privileged to be able to help Frankston BMX Club reconnect with its members through the Summer Championship at the Club’s outstanding BMX track, which is without doubt one of the best and most challenging BMX tracks in Victoria."

Frankston BMX Club president Peter Hart said, “It’s fantastic when businesses such as EastLink put back in to their community.”

“Frankston BMX Club is 100% run by volunteers and is totally self-funded. Over the last two years we have been unable to fundraise for the Club.”

“EastLink support helps us give our sport the boost that for the last two years has not been available due to the pandemic.”

“It will be great to get all members, kids, parents and club volunteers back to the track, and enjoy some very competitive racing.”
