EastLink supports Vets For Compassion with critical UHF communications equipment
EastLink is proud to announce its support for Vets For Compassion, a volunteer-run animal rescue organisation, by providing essential communications equipment to enhance their emergency response capabilities.
In response to a request from Vets For Compassion, EastLink supplied this surplus equipment:
4 vehicle-mounted UHF radios
6 handheld UHF radios with charging hardware
1 UHF base station for their triage van
The equipment was handed over on 15 July.
During recent Victorian bushfires, Vets For Compassion faced serious communication challenges in remote areas with no mobile reception. Their previous radios lacked the range and reliability needed to coordinate rescue efforts across rugged terrain. EastLink’s donation of high-quality UHF radios—including private communication channels—has transformed their operations, enabling real-time coordination and improving safety for both volunteers and the animals they protect.
In a letter of appreciation, Vets For Compassion described the donation as “a lifeline,” highlighting how the new equipment allows their team to “respond faster, act smarter, and keep volunteers safer.”

Established in 2016, Vets For Compassion is an Australian based not-for-profit organisation with a mission to improve animal welfare. All members of the Vets For Compassion team are volunteers. The highly trained team of veterinarians, vet nurses, wildlife darters, and wildlife rescuers respond to call outs at all hours of the day to perform life-saving surgery, rescue, rehabilitation, relocating and re-homing as well as provide emergency wildlife rescue assistance and disaster response here in Australia and around the world.
Vets For Compassions relies on the generosity of its supporters whose donations enable them to alleviate the suffering of animals in need of help. The team works with the optimum level of resource efficiency, ensuring every dollar raised goes directly to saving precious animals.
